      Lamenting the Decline

      Pros

      The company has had a strong historic reputation for technical excellence and leadership in key areas. For many years it was among the most desired and sought-after companies to work for by engineering and other technical discipline experts. It's legacy of excellence remains an asset.

      Cons

      Financial problems and turnover in senior leadership have taken its toll. The leadership has adopted the model of its less accomplished but larger peers. It has abandoned the notion of career building for its employees. It has taken the position that only the most senior executives are worthy of bonuses; that in effect everyone else is a replaceable widget. The world is littered with the mediocre that are neither difference makers nor highly profitable. CH2M seems determined to want to join that them. As someone who helped build the company from a regional to national to international firm, that is lamentable.

To sustain the greater purpose of CH2M as a global company, the company is evolving too.       Typical Multinational garbage company

      Pros

      Some of the coworkers were fun to work with.

      Cons

      Horrid communication. Terrible management that are unable and unwilling to reduce billing rates to attract new business. Senior level employees typically do not answer your emails if they do not have the time for you. Work is handed to members of cliques. The CEO is clueless and directionless. I predict ch2m operations in Canada will be bankrupt in less than a year. Do not apply to work for this 3rd rate company.

      Used to be a good company

      Pros

      There are still some great people left working there. But they are trying to hold up a sinking ship. It used to be a good place to work, with a leadership that was focused and supportive. The "Little Yellow Book" way of life used to be real and people mattered. Sadly not any more. Pay and benefits are industry standard which is decent.

      Cons

      Management is too top heavy and there is absolutely no communication down from the top. Workers get pigeon-holed with no where to grow or advance. Questionable pay and time reporting practices - if you are "salaried", you only get paid hourly for the hours you work and they take your vacation to make up the balance. And you can't stop them. No overhead, no help looking for work from management, no support, and the saddest part - no loyalty to employees.
