Pros

The only good reason I can think of for working here is having a job and a pay check otherwise the things ive heard managers and leaders say here are shocking to say the least!!

Cons

Very toxic environment. A lack of proper training programs, lack of innovation, lack of growth and career pathing. Service people are treated like robots or slaves, extremely micro-managed. Managers and supervisors are very unfriendly, moody, unsupportive, uninteractive and unengaging. Im not sure about the other departments but service department is always stiff, everyone is just too serious, you cant go to the washroom and the supervisor is asking why youre not on taking calls mode. Hands down the worst environment I have ever worked in (psychologically).

Pros

Okay Salary, Good Cafeteria. Good company for women as most of the management and employees are women. Good benefits and pension if you are a permanent employee.

Cons

Toxic Culture! The negative culture and internal politics can even make you SICK and challenge your self esteem and confidence. This company is NOT for talented, ambitious and qualified professionals who want to contribute their best with fresh ideas and creativity. I was told by my manager "If you are trying to do things differently here, then you don't necessarily understand how we work here" I was quite shocked to hear such a remark to my idea which was different from how they have worked in the past years! And ironically then managers talk about innovation, initiative, etc during the reviews....I sent some ideas via emails but nobody even replied to my email... Very Slow and very low productivity as a team...... They are surviving because of their good brand image in roadside assistance which is also facing very stiff competition these days. Some managers are sitting on projects for 2-3 years and funnily enough they even talk about these projects in every meeting without any meaningful updates! They say they are a 'not for profit organisation' but their entire focus is to get members for road side assistance and then try to sell them insurance and travel which is their main focus. Insurance is also the focus of the top management. Coming to Directors, they are not necessarily very bright and if you look at their profiles on LinkedIn then you can observe they had just been jumping jobs every 1-2 years before landing at CAA SCO. and director in my group was simply focused on attending seminars. workshops and training within the city and even out of Canada! Almost never there is office and just obtaining the work from managers / specialists and then just presenting it to their VP with almost negligible contribution. And on top of that playing dirty office politics and making culturally insensitive remarks! Managers are also biased and play favorites at times. If they are on your side then you can easily take 2 hour lunch breaks or even leave early 2-3 times a week and if they are not then they criticize everything that you do! A very important tip would be to never join this company on CONTRACT. As they just have the "use & throw" mentality. Personally, I know of only 1 lady who was offered a permanent role from the several contract people employed by them and that also perhaps because the department manager had resigned in just 3 months of joining. Contract staff are treated differently even during the employee fun events as they are barred from participating in certain games. Join this company if you are in insurance field or think this is gonna be your last job before retirement and you just want to have good pension and benefits but are not necessarily looking to do much at work and you are very good at being social and just chit chatting with managers / directors.
