Pros

High-paced, driven, and competitive. Definitely 101% interaction from teammates across all departments. You can't really lag behind, may it be new updates, meetings, or simple hi and hellos. The word customers do not exist here. Family, team, and community does.

Cons

Additional resources as a startup — teammates are at risk of a burnout but will eventually change as the recruitment process is ongoing.

Pros

Belong works individually to set professional goals. We are challenged to learn, grow and evolve. Still, they recognise when we exceed expectations. A very respectful workplace.

Cons

Nothing up to the moment.

Management is not open to feedback.

Pros

The team is made up of some of the most hardworking, smart and supportive people that I know. If the culture wasn't so top-down, the environment that these amazing team members could cultivate would be great.

Cons

Management attempts to produce results through fear, there are constant threats of being put on a PIP, even for new team members. It's clear if someone openly disagrees with management, they will not be working with Belong much longer... Often people are brought on for a certain role and their day-to-day ends up looking very different than what was described to them. It sets everyone up for failure and disappointment. Understandably, your focus may change and you do need to be adaptable at a growing startup, but it appears that people are told they will be given opportunities that consistently never happen. Workflows are too dependent on Slack, everything is encouraged to happen publicly for "learnings", but it just ends up that people are blasted and shamed in front of everyone. "Slack attacks" are common You are expected to be on and responsive 24/7, including weekends and holidays. It is series A so there is a lot of work to be done, but in general there is very little appreciation or acknowledgement from management of the sacrifices the team constantly makes. There is no such thing as a work/life balance. It's important to set boundaries, but Belong makes it difficult. There is no focus or mention of mental health, self-care, or even an understanding of how challenging the state of the world is right now

Hi former Belonger, It saddened me to hear about the suboptimal experience you had working at Belong. We strive to provide a positive environment, and feedback is a significant component of our culture, so we make time for it in formal and informal ways through anonymous questions during the all hands, performance reviews, and monthly feedback sessions. A lot has changed since you left this review, and I would love to share more about how we have evolved our practices over time. Please feel free to reach out directly at fiorillo.flora@belonghome.com I wish you all the best, Flora Fiorillo Vice President, People Operations
