Often people are brought on for a certain role and their day-to-day ends up looking very different than what was described to them. It sets everyone up for failure and disappointment. Understandably, your focus may change and you do need to be adaptable at a growing startup, but it appears that people are told they will be given opportunities that consistently never happen.
Workflows are too dependent on Slack, everything is encouraged to happen publicly for "learnings", but it just ends up that people are blasted and shamed in front of everyone. "Slack attacks" are common
You are expected to be on and responsive 24/7, including weekends and holidays. It is series A so there is a lot of work to be done, but in general there is very little appreciation or acknowledgement from management of the sacrifices the team constantly makes. There is no such thing as a work/life balance. It's important to set boundaries, but Belong makes it difficult. There is no focus or mention of mental health, self-care, or even an understanding of how challenging the state of the world is right now
