Pros

There are many smart, well-intentioned people that work at Biotronik / MSEI. Advancement is possible but very limited.

Cons

There is NO expectation of work / life balance at Biotronik / MSEI, it simply doesn't exist. Because this location is a manufacturing facility, staff are expected to be available at all-times when the factory is in production which is typically 16x6. In addition to the job demands, the culture is terrible. The company culture is one of finger pointing and senior management throwing lower-level staff under the bus. Arguments between co-workers become somewhat hostile and personal ...often mob mentality takes over. The idea of collaboration exists however cooperation is quickly overshadowed by the feeling that if you make a mistake you will be heavily vilified for your oversight. Biotronik is broken up into smaller, sub-companies. These sub-companies are legally separate entities which operate to segregate the different business processes of Biotronik. This separation often breeds more friction and conflict between the sub-companies. For what it's worth, this type of company structure is not uncommon however where there is already a toxic culture this structure exacerbates this toxicity. Look at reviews for MSEI and MST as these are 2 of the sub-companies.

Pros

-Fantastic quality, best in class manufacturing, some solid niche products. -The owner is brilliant and has an inspiring future laid out for the company with an impressive pipeline. -Sales commissions are higher than the big 3, at least in the US

Cons

-Training is a joke compared with the Big 3, especially Medtronic. -Management cares about one thing only....revenue. If you are in sales, you are a hero when your numbers are good and persona non grata when they aren't. This is true in most sales organizations, but this company takes persecution of non-performing reps to a different level. -Ludicrous decisions in the past by completely inept managers led to the hiring of reps that had no business being in the job. They were hiring pharma reps, giving them 2 weeks of training, handing them a product bag and sending them out in the field. This created a revolving door of terrible representation that the company is still suffering from in many areas. -Because they were very late in trying to gain market share in the US (this wasn't a focus until 2001), their market share is still less than 10%. This has our volume at levels where we have little to no leverage over our competitors when it comes time to negotiate contracts, especially with the large IDN's and GPO's. This is exacerbated by the lack of diversification in our product line compared with our competitors.

Pros

Flexible work hours, annual bonus

Cons

No opportunities for advancement, all in house departments are very small with only one leader, management positions are hired from outside only, currently a mass exodus of long term employees leaving departments severely understaffed. Annual bonus is based on sales only, doesn't reflect personal achievement. Company will not allow permanent remote work, but frequently hires executives who do not work in house.
