Pros

It used to be benefits and salary, and the most admirable example of diversity; that is no longer the case even though it is highly elevated.

Cons

Major moral corruption at senior management level; everyone's for themselves and nepotism and favoritism is highly practiced; hard working people are pushed down if they don't fit in the circle of friends.

This company doesn't practice their own core values

Pros

It's a job in a bad economy.

Cons

Company talks a lot about their core values and in over 5 years I've rarely seen them behave or act in alignment with any of them. Simplicity: This is the most micromanaged, cumbersome, restrictive employer I've ever worked for. Sustainability: Try to suggest a different way of doing things in an attempt to generate greater productivity or add real value to the business. Won't happen ... managers don't want free thinking employees that speak up, they want "yes sir" "go along" robots. Accountability: they mean to themselves right? Managers make promises of opportunities that they never intend to keep or follow through on; They lure you with benefits and incentives only to pull them out from underneath you later; They say and do what they want without repercussion. Respect and Integrity: This is a company that tells their employees to work themselves to the bone only to under compensate them for their achievements. Structure a bonus incentive plan so that no one gets rewarded in accordance with their performance; mid and low performing people get what the highly productive people get. You don't get recognized for your productivity or contributions. Have to be in the inner circle in order to be considered for advancement. Don't challenge process or manager direction, even in a positive way - you offend one person above you and you've cut your career short. Your told to do and accomplish certain things in order be considered for advancement, meanwhile you watch people without these various accomplishments get promoted around you; they change the rules as they go to suit their own needs. Lead a strong team, train someone to do a job, find out in a year that you've just trained them to be your superintendent regardless of the fact you got them their and your far more qualified. Appointment at whim - We're you promised "consideration". Well you'll only be given that if they decide to post an open position. Which may not happen. They'll pick a person and appoint them to an open position without giving others the chance to apply. Employment opportunities provided to those less qualified who sleep with the leadership team while those who contribute lose jobs. Underutilize people who have specific skill sets.

Pros

Great benefits and unfortunately that's it.

Cons

The entire management for the most part in the HR department in the Houston corporate office is an absolute joke. There are a few still employed there who have made their way up the corporate ladder by simply lying and throwing others under the bus continuously. It is an absolute joke that no one cares enough to see what actually occurs in this department even when complaints are continuously raised. Employees are led to believe that claims of harassment, bullying and various ethics violations will be investigated. They aren't and the company always sides with management. You will work tirelessly all day every day even on your days off only to have your managers claim your work and success as your own. Many times you will be told that promotions are in the near future but why would you ever move up if your supervisors can keep you down because you continually make them look good? Myself and several colleagues on the same level gave everything to BHP Billiton for years only to have them toss us to the curb when we no longer fit in their plans and the oil prices continued to slide. It makes sense when you're trying to cut the bottom line and keep certain mid level managers who have never done a thing for the company and are absolutely over paid!
