Pros

Avaya has competitive pay. Many of the middle managers are great - knowledgeable and care about you.

Cons

Avaya has no pension plan, they give you 10 days to find a new job when they let you go. Senior leadership does not care about their people at all. They will use you and let you go.

Pros

Good pay, Good benefits, Good peers

Cons

The company is in transition. Leadership changes quarterly in an attempt to remake the company into something appealing to a larger acquisition. US and EMEA employees are being jettisoned at an alarming rate to accommodate the leaderships desire to move all functions offshore to "lower cost countries" with little or no consideration being given to their ability to actually deliver a quality service. Be forewarned, the company that pioneered VO technology is trying to force all IT associates to work out of a few core IT locations, regardless of their current effectiveness. Virtual Office is shunned withing the IT organization and some very good people will be released based on outdated beliefs regarding the effectiveness of remote workers.

Pros

PBX market leader. Reasonable benefits. Supportive of working at home. Good percentage of technical co-workers are high quality individuals.

Cons

Bloated middle management with little effective policy control. Rampant cronyism and promotion rarely based on performance. Different sections of the company are siloed thiefdoms that don't cooperate or communicate. Company employee intranet websites are a complete mess. The XMS expense system, and the eProject timesheet web page is torturous. Corporate expense policies are unrealistically low-balled (daily meals $30/day, cell phone $40/mo - the list is endless.) I'd guess typical salaries are around the 50th percentile. i.e. You can do a lot better elsewhere.
