Pros

Leading company in technology sector, yet still agile to be a challenger. Leader in some areas, but far behind in some other areas. Fragmentation needs to be solved with proper consolidation.

Cons

In some parts of the company, much inheritance from past still remain visible. It is important to remember that the employees with customer interaction define the perception of the company to a larger extent than management, especially management functions without regular customer interfacing.

Pros

There is still an excellent learning curve. Just don't plan on being there for the long term.

Cons

The innovation isn't there anymore. There is no excitement concerning new products simply because there aren't any. The company no longer manufactures anything so what is manufactured suffers from poor quality control. Avaya want's to be a software company at the expense of everything else. The company chose to shed 50% of the North American workforce and add them in India and Argentina. I predict that Avaya will be absorbed by Cisco. Cisco will take what it wants and shed the rest.

Pros

The money was outstanding !! Raises every 6 months til you top out. And the pay CANT be beat

Cons

Union. However Union worked , in a way, because the pay was the best , along with the benefits..( 100% company paid health vision and denatal for whole family) . Union didnt do their job in that when a few of us hired on as TERM employees, we all were told in the interview that it would be no less than 1 year and no more than 3. We were told by Union that since the contract was up we TERM newhires were " on the bargaining table " to be made PERM. We newhires stayed in constant contact with our stewards about being PERM and they said dont worry about it. On our 6th month, management got us newhires in an office and said it was job complete and that we were hired to be a transition for an office that was closed , and the employees from that office could move here. In our interviews, had management not HID THE TRUTH and stated WHY we were being hired, instead of ' helping with tansition of work', non of us wouold have WASTED 6 months of our lives.
