Pros

Avaya has extraordinary human capital at the lower levels. The camaraderie among engineers is first rate, and the pay is decent.

Cons

Upper management in the Services organization has a level of disregard for the engineers -- the people who actually do the work -- that borders on malice. "Our way or the highway" is the prevailing attitude. Feedback from the lower ranks not only isn't valued, it isn't tolerated.

Avaya Pros and Cons

Pros

Avaya has some good people and definitely has potential; if there is an opportunity to go public again this could be a positive. I believe the company has recently stabilized a little and maybe turning around for the better.

Cons

Private equity buyout and economic environment have led to excessive downsizing, offshoring, dramatic cost cutting. Constant restructuring and changes at senior leadership level make it difficult to get traction for any initiatives. Non "core" functions have been hit especially hard.
