Pros

There are not any pros.

Cons

Awful place to work. I was warned before coming into the business from previous employees and wish I had listened to them. The culture is extremely unfriendly and aggressive. It is a blame culture, not just in what I experienced, but in what I saw and heard. It is like being in a playground. They make you work around the clock, there is no praise and the salary is awful. Argos will not pay you what they owe you, they only care about protecting themselves and couldn't care less about the staff. Management aren't the brightest either. I really could not recommend Argos any less and advise everyone to find employment in a place where you work together as a team and are valued.

Pros

Staff discount is fair and it is easy to get a foot in the door during Christmas peak.

Cons

Contracted hours are kept to a minimum but you are expected to be fully flexible for whenever they need you. Flexibility does not work both ways, and despite basic hour contracts they will not support you in working a second job or allow you to have a say on days off and how many hours you work. Regularly forced to work more than 7 consecutive days without a day off, but on short daily shifts so the pay is poor for the commitment offered. Rota's usually only finished on Saturday for the week starting the next day! But often changes throughout the week without consultation. No respect offered to employees by management, lots of workplace bullying coming from management or friends of management which is ignored when reported. Management intentionally rota employees to departments they don't like as punishment for not taking additional hours at short notice. New voice system does not work well and heavily delays customers, with an average waiting time on the receipt of upto 14 minutes the speed of service is an embarrassment. Management are not tech savvy and are actually a hindrance to the adoption of the new digital transformation, need replacing with younger managers. I am a good employee, I exceed targets and take on additional responsibilities unpaid in my own time, and never get as much as a thanks. When raising issues with contracted hours being unreliable and causing financial difficulty, I am told 'where the door is' and that I should be greatful to even have a job. Even customers overhear the way management treat staff on the shop floor and are disgusted by it.

Pros

NONE!!!!! Worse decision Ever made. Biggest Regret of my career to date. Don’t waste your time filling out an application form.

Cons

Trying to keep your self confidence and self esteem from hitting rock bottom. Once employed cut all ties with family life as you’ll never know when you can organise family time due to constant last minute publishing of rotas and shift changes that you can’t complain about without repercussions as punishment.
