Pros

No pros.. standard pay in the field..

Cons

Pay still lower than what software people make in bay area so you are always outpaced by them. Horrible work hours for Process Engineers.. 10-12 hour work days and work even on weekend. Its assumed you will work on weekends without asking you. Too many projects for one engineer so you are always over burdened. Negligible chances of promotion. Average promotion take 7-9 years and only 10% raise after that. Afer promtion, you are expected to work even more

Pros

Interesting work, technological forefront

Cons

Managers do not care how much you work they will still ask for more, no one takes your concerns seriously. I had many other job offers and chose this one because of the opportunity they hired me for, only to get moved. I gave new position a chance and now I hate it and I'm stuck. Thanks AMAT!

Pros

Major office and labs are in California. What bad can you say about California? Oh and their layoff package is also nice, so if you join the company with a mindset that you wanna be laid off, Applied Materials is THE ONE.

Cons

Shutdown and layoff multiple times EVERY year since 2012. Take this year (2015) for example, there's shut down in July, September and probably another 2-week shutdown in Christmas. What about layoff? It's a continuous process, so even harder to quantify, but CMP has layoff of 20% in summer 2015. What about management? Well? If you read my comments above, what do you expect from them?
