Tons of OT Tech is interesting Travel can be fun Decent starting pay for the industry ESPP and benefits are solid Severance is decent Good $$ for relocation and referrals

Cons

Lack of formal trainings outside of OJT Easy to run into “veterans” who’s accomplishments were to not get fired and little else but have significant pull with management Promotions are difficult unless you want to relocate Layoffs are inevitable If you are a introverted personality you will struggle. If you’re not seen as pushing the issue to get involved you will be perceived as lazy.

Pros

Always plenty of work to do and things to learn. Very hands-on, high visibility position. If you enjoy having the job responsibilities of five or six people at the same time, this is the place for you. Lots of travel to Asia (Taiwan mostly).

Cons

If you have a wife and kids, look elsewhere. Not enough people to do the work, so nobody has the bandwidth to do a thorough job, let alone share knowledge with peers. Heavily loaded with documentation responsibilities and support for multiple high profile products. Very un-organized work environment with heavy reliance on word of mouth communication.
