Pros

The working environment, friendly associates, amazing customers, the discount.

Cons

Probably the worst experience I've ever endured. I was hired under false pretenses.. I didn't even work a full two weeks, and I was fired because I couldn't sell a pier 1 rewards credit card.. They literally make you hound every customer that comes in, and you barely get any training.. Plus, I wasn't even given the 90 day grace period of training that most places of employment are to give. Their hours are terrible, and you feel very unappreciated.. lots of favoritism is shown.. there's no room to improve on any of your work ethic. Also back to the 90 day grace period.. You're trained on the job, and not even trained long enough, I was trained on the register for two days and they wanted me to hound customers about their pier 1 credit card.. They made it seem as if I was a terrible person just because I couldn't sell their stupid card.. Don't get me wrong the environment working there is amazing and all, but it's not worth it. You only work four hours, maybe get scheduled 3-4 days a week and that only depends on your selling the card. I mean, within the first three days they were pressuring me about selling the card.. About my 8th day working I was fired, because I didn't mention the pier 1 rewards credit card twice, I felt humiliated and just horrible.. Assistant managers basically bullied me, made it seem as if I wasn't doing anything.. Then my store manager told me to lie on my future applications and say that I wasnt satisfied with the amount of hours given, which was not the case... she said I didnt fit their store because I wasn't so loud and giddy like everyone else, but I did my job the best I could without a doubt! Everything they asked of me was done, they really pressured me and I was also told to lie to my mother and say the reason I was let go was because the job was too fast paced for me.. On top of that my manager lied and gloated about her success as a store manager.. I mean what a joke...I can't wait to file a complaint this will be going to head offices for sure.

Pros

Very family oriented, caring company. Owner team very involved in daily business, decisions can be made quickly if necessary. There is a lot of encouragement given to the entry-level associates. Lots of fun during the work day.

Cons

The way the business model is set up, lots of travel is required if you are to build a solid team and be successful. Should be reviewed for longevity of management team resources. More daytime office time is needed, while the field team is on-site at the workplace.
