Pros

You get trained while learning from the best trainers on the continent. You get to work with the best brains in the best tech companies in the world. Free breakfast and lunch. Subsidized accommodation on their premises. An awesome T.I.A. culture of inclusiveness.

Cons

No free supper yet. Strict Intellectual Property terms.

Pros

fast moving startup life, plenty of blue ocean out there. Global org, its fun to work with people from all over

Cons

Communication is basically nil - teams have little idea what other teams are working on, which leads to confusion, duplication of effort, and wasted work; no cohesive, clear strategy - an exec gets an idea and boom its Flavor of the Month time. Also they went through 4 rounds of layoffs while stacking the C-suite, with folks coming and going at all times. They built their business on leveraging talent from underdeveloped markets, yet seems to hire executives strictly from big western cities like NYC, Bay Area, etc, again while they are laying off ~30% of the workforce.

Pros

The original mission of Andela was fantastic. Fully remote can be nice. Base salaries are somewhat competitive.

Cons

Bad commission structure. CRO has a temper and berates team members, even attempted to make a corny joke before laying off a significant portion of the team over zoom. Performance matters for some, but for others not so much. Complaints and internal feedback don't seem to be taken very seriously. They say it will be, but considering the behaviors continued... hard to take HR's word. Leadership has brought on several friends in high paying positions that bring little to the org, but somehow are Teflon and never considered to be a part of the problem. You just get used to working in a toxic environment, which shouldn't be the norm. Hard to find anyone left in the org who genuinely enjoys showing up to work.
