Pros

Met some nice colleagues and maintained a decent work life balance.

Cons

Lack of opportunity for individuals to develop upon their skill set. Monotonous jobs. Organization targets naive, recent graduates. Millennial culture which doesn’t prepare individuals for the real jobs out there in society. Management determines who they want to put focus on when it comes to career development. Gap analysis’ are only provided to those which they feel are deserving. Having this organization on your resume, one will come to find does more harm than good. “Great Place to Work” if you are not looking for a challenge or looking to excel within your career. Management doesn’t hold other management accountable. The organization really hasn’t yet tapped into the US market and struggling to build upon their focus on building up in the Americas. Huge opportunity and not sure when/how they will overcome this. Head of this office commutes from the other side of the country.

Pros

They have a ping pong table, but you’re not allowed to use it...

Cons

“Team Lead” level managers have 1 year of recruitment experience and the only management background they have is in the likes of Tesco’s. Absolutely no idea how to carry out recruitment. If you enjoy actually doing recruitment, this probably isn’t for you. Sourcers have no engagement with candidates and you have no influence on the recruitment process. Emphasis is on KPIs rather than actual results. I have seen multiple people leave my team because of a bad manager, and HR had no interest in giving any of them an exit interview.

I am disappointed to hear about your experience of working at AMS and your views of HR support for employees in Belfast. All employees are invited to complete an exit survey and can talk to HR in confidence about any concerns they have. I will follow up with my local team on the issues you raise but I am available if you want to talk to me direct and in confidence - ruth.smyth@alexmann.com, HR Director As HR Director, I am keen to understand your comments further if you would like to talk in confidence, please get in touch direct at ruth.smyth@alexmann.com.

Pros

Progressive fast growing RPO company. Lots of good tools and technology. Some strong management in the US and overseas (UK).

Cons

It is an RPO. Too much sales and not enough execution. Leadership does not really care about team members and will work them to the bone to hit the numbers and make the client happy. Even it that involves being dishonest.
