Pros

Freedom and flexibility with work schedule. Leads can be great at times. Name recognition. Affinity partnerships with AARP and USAA. Model Sales Call is an effective tool for presentations.

Cons

Instability of office due to turnover of managers and reps. Company leads are abundant, but half the time are of poor quality. Reps are measured by gross close rate (GCR), and if a company -provided lead cancels before you see them, it unfairly impacts your GCR. Vastly overpriced in relation to competition in my marketplace. Considerable traveling with very little reimbursement for it. In order to limit how far you travel, you have to self-generate and not rely on company leads -- notthe easiest thing to do.
