I applied online for a seasonal stock associate and received a call from the stores manager a few days later. We set up an interview time and met accordingly. The interview was simple, quick, and easy. However, he said that the job position would be a seasonal sales associate, not a stock associate that I applied for. This didn't bother me though since I was interested in any position at the store. He also explained the dress code, their hours, and my availability. Closing my interview, the manager stated that he would have to "check with the HR department" regarding my age (I am currently 16) and that he would contact me within the next week. Less than an hour after my interview, I received two emails from world market stating that "I was not the best match" and that they would keep my file on hand for future opportunities. The problem that I had with this is that the manager did not know the company's age policy in the first place. Secondly, the fact that I stated on my application that I was under the age of eighteen should have been enough for them to decide whether or not I was old enough for the position before calling me in for an interview. If there was anything hat I gained out of the process, it was learning how the interview process works and preparing me for another try elsewhere. Ultimately, I was disappointed in the lack of knowledge that the manager possessed and the fact that the store would call me in for an interview with the company having a strict age policy that would prohibit my employment there.
I am still currently waiting for a call from the manager in regards to the position and the outcome which was firstly sent by email.
