I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Wise (Tallin) in Jul 2024
Interview
It was a simple and fast process. First, a case with possible support questions that must be answered in English and Portuguese (the position I was applying was in Portuguese). Afterwards, a brief conversation with HR and a longer (1h) with the people leading the role.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you deal with angry customers?
How do you deal with miscommunication between you and a co-worker?
Spoke to the people team first, who was friendly and spoke about the office and interview process. Then, had a 30 minute interview with my would-be line manager which was more technical / motivations based.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Wise (Singapur) in Mar 2025
Interview
While it may seem like they hire the best candidates, based on the ordeal that I've been through, Wise's hiring practice is the worst; hires are not based according to their experience, merit, or interview performance, but rather how they fit in with the company's woke culture or specific "profile".
In my view, the company is full of people who are incompetent and are afraid of being accountable for their work. What's worse is that they praise you for doing a stellar work in your assignment, steal the ideas that you've presented in their publishing (yes, it's that bad), and not hire you. This is the first time where I pass the take home assignment with flying colours and do well in the interview and still not get hired. Later on, I found out that they went with a candidate who was much younger and inexperienced. Not only that, they also published articles based on my work, which all but confirmed that I was exploited. An absolutely embarrassment of a company.
