Interview
While I had a positive experience with the internal recruiter who was organised and communicative, the interviews with the hiring team were poor.
The content, questions and attendees of each interview weren’t as advised. Many questions felt like free consulting in disguise about live business problems. After the interviews, I saw they used one of my ideas for free.
I wasn’t given the opportunity to share the presentation I was asked to prepare. At times, the interviewers were hostile and seemed more interested in gaining competitor insights from my previous employers than me as a candidate.
The goalposts also shifted constantly. Each interview, what was required of the role changed. They spent a lot of time on questions about skills and market knowledge that contradicted what the recruiter briefed me on and weren’t in the job description. I was asked increasingly impossible questions on how I would achieve large goals, that most companies would put significant resource behind, by myself with no resource or budget. Overall confusing and very disappointing.

Interview
During pair programming the interviewers were often interruptive and focused on small details rather than the overall problem-solving approach. At times, one interviewer would ask a lot of questions while the other told me to dismiss them in a “let’s move on” fashion, which made it confusing and stressful. The session felt more stressful than collaborative, and the feedback seemed to reflect the perspectives of the interviewer I was told to dismiss. Overall, it seemed like the process prioritised nitpicking over assessing real coding or problem-solving skills. I would caution candidates who prefer a supportive environment.

Implement a circuit breaker with response caching for an existing request handler.
So many rounds of interview but will not even bother to send you rejection email. Took almost a month to go through all stages. Please have some courtesy as candidates put in time and effort to prepare.
