Straightforward, a hiring manager chat then presentation and discussion with questions from different disciplines. Everything moved fairly quickly and communication was good. Nothing too unexpected and everyone was very friendly.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when style questions and then some hypotheticals. Crit style questions during presentation.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Wise (Tallin) in Oct 2021
Interview
Overall a smooth process. Took less than a month from when I submitted an application to when I received an offer.
-Applied online. Attached my CV and answered a few questions e.g Why Wise? Why are you a good candidate for this position?
-Received an email after 2 days that I passed the screening and was invited for an online exam via HireVue. Consisted of 5 video questions, responses will be recorded. Then a few sample emails you need to curate appropriate responses. Visit the links in the invitation email. Make sure you know how Wise works.
-Less than a week later, I received another email asking for my availability for the final interview. This was a zoom call with two current employees. Questions were as expected, very situational based. No reason to be nervous, interviewers are friendly and welcoming to any questions.
-After exactly a week, I received an email asking to schedule a call for my final interview feedback. The recruiter explained the company offer before sending it in email.
I feel like the interviews are designed to get to know the applicant’s personality, not necessarily their abilities. So read up on the company culture and try to align your answers to them.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wise in Oct 2021
Interview
The process consists of 5 steps:
- recruiter call (0.5h)
- pair programming task (1h)
- system design round (1.5h)
- product manager interview (0.5h)
- final round (1h)
All the interviews were done on Zoom.
Overall the process was quite smooth and you could always ask for feedback from the recruiter.
What I didn't like was that each step was done with someone in a completely different department. It was only at the last step where you actually had a talk with your team lead (which is one of the important steps IMO). Why waste so many rounds to only at the end discover that the culture fit wouldn't be right.
System design interview tested your knowledge about basic development processes and in the end required to design a simple architecture on an online whiteboard.
Product manager interview was very laid back. I enjoyed this probably the most.
I was rejected at the final round which was mostly technical talk about your previous experience and also was quite similar to the system design interview. Didn't really understand why would candidates need to do 3rd technical round on top of all the previous ones.
All in all, everyone seemed really smart in the company. Had some great insight how Wise works.
