I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Verizon in Jun 2024
Interview
I have tried to interview with Verizon on 3 separate occasions. I had heard amazing things about the work culture here and was very excited for an opportunity to join this company. However, every interviewing experience I have had has been infuriating and unprofessional.
The first time I filled out an extensive online resume for a sales position and received no follow up for weeks. Several weeks later I received a call from an unknown number around 10pm in my time zone. I got curious and picked up. It was a call from a Verizon recruiter! Although I felt like such a late night call was unprofessional I continued and asked the recruiter to sign me up for an interview call and asked her to send me her name and contact details so I could have those saved for the interview. She agreed, since she had called from a blocked number. I never received an email and even worse, the recruited called me 2 hours late for our interview. I had set aside 30 mins of my time just to have it wasted. I had already moved on with my day at that point and missed the recruiters call. Since she never provided me with a call back number over email or voicemail I had no way to get in touch. It was so unprofessional and rude coming from such a large company. I did some digging on the company site and found what I thought was her supervisor. I sent an email informing the supervisor of what had occurred and asked for another interview.
Several months later I applied for a different sales position but It was not a good fit in the end since that position required travel and I did not want to travel for work. I did have a hiring manager reach out to me directly. Aside from the job description not being exactly accurate to the position, this was not a negative experience.
Most recently I applied agin for another sales position. A hiring manager reacher out to me via email to set a time for a video call. She confirmed the date with me on two other occasions. On the day of the call share was a no-show. I waited for 10 minutes and checked that I had used the right teams link. She did not arrive for the call or call me over the phone. I am absolutely livid that my time has been wasted like this.
I had a recruiter screen followed by a panel interview with software engineers. The interview mostly focused on my previous experience and what projects I have worked on. They asked questions like describe challenging bug that you fixed
2 rounds of interviews - recruiter and hiring manager. I had to answer behavioral questions and cultural fit questions. Chill, conversational. Behavioral questions are simple and typical for this kind of interviews.
