I applied online. I interviewed at VMware (New York, NY) in May 2022
Interview
HR screener/recruiter reached out to me about 2 weeks after I applied. She was very difficult to understand due to speaking rapidly, using company-specific lingo, and rattling off information and questions without giving me the opportunity to respond/follow-up on each point. This was compounded by a strong accent. I also felt like she didn't think I was a fit for the role and seemed a bit antagonist in her demeanor. I opted not to continue with the interview process due to this and the pay range shared on the call.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at VMware (Bengaluru) in Jul 2021

A current employee had a notebook full of theoretical (algorithmic) CS questions. However, it was clear that he did not know the answers to many of them, and the hints he would sometimes give me were very confusing.
