I applied online. I interviewed at Teach for America
Interview
Long, tedious process. Went to a group interest meeting that seemed to be glossing over a lot of the material. I asked how the process of being in a child's life for only 1-2 years would have a long term effect and the recruiter just beamed and told me what a delightful question I had asked. Basically, she said a lot of euphemisms for personal satisfaction.
All of the interview questions fall into three categories:
2 questions on why TFA, why teaching etc
then half on whatever leadership position you wrote about in your app
and half about how you overcame challenges and difficulties
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Very, very in-depth questions about your leadership position, so make sure you remember it well, and the lessons you learned from it.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Teach for America (Columbus, OH) in Mar 2010
Interview
Online application is followed most frequently by a phone screening interview, after which day-long interview is conducted, including individual and group activities (including a 5-minute lesson plan presentation), discussion (about pre-interview reading assignments), and then one-on-one interviews.

Have you ever quit anything?

Interview
The entire process was wonderful. They communicate very clearly and provide a ton of information to the applicant. They gave dates for the every step of the process and met those. The people I interviewed with were fun, professional and gracious. I did a phone interview with one person then a video interview with 3 people.
