I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Target in Dec 2009
Interview
Target's interviews are all behavioral. In other words, they ask you to come up with an example of "a time when....." So they may ask you to think of a time when you negotiated a win-win situation, or a time when you had to give someone negative feedback, etc.... The best way to answer is to give a brief background of what led you to that moment, describe what happened, explain the outcome, and always say what you learned from it (about yourself, about being a better leader, etc...)

Question 1
Describe a time when you had to negotiate a win-win situation
The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Target (Minneapolis, MN) in Jul 2011
Interview
I was introduced to a store leader, who was very professional. Our interview lasted 30 minutes, and he advised me that he thought I would be great for the position and that he would email a recruiter to get the ball rolling. I received an email to schedule the phone interview and I got a call in a couple of days. The interview with her last for 20 minutes and she told me I'd be notified in 1 week. Just 2 days later HR sent me a no thank you email. Keep in mind I have my MBA and I have worked in various customer service and leadership roles. I don't think any less of Target, but I don't agree the system is fair. I believe the store leader should have the discretion to offer me a job if they feel I'm the right person, not some random person who is asking pre-written questions.
