The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sears in Jan 2011
Interview
I first met with the company at a career fair in college and received an email from their HR representative shortly after to come in for an interview. I heard they usually do intelligence tests so I heavily prepared but did not have one, instead it was a group interview with two department directors and my future manager. All males. In fact, I ended up being the only female in my whole department. If you are a woman I do not recommend dressing too stylish or in tight fitting clothes if it is for a more analytical role, the only department who values that is the fashion inventory analysts/department. Otherwise, everyone hired with us dressed very classy and modest.
They basically just asked about my resume combined with basic behavioral interview questions. One thing they were most interested in was my ability to use excel. I had never used it before but I could tell it was a deal breaker if I didn’t so I bluffed and decided to learn it upon being hired. Thank goodness I did because I would not have been hire otherwise, everything you do at the company is on excel since their other company software is so outdated. I would highly recommend mentioning you love working with numbers and excel because that is the foundation of everything you do.
I actually thought I had bombed the interview due to the intensity of the questions and atmosphere but received a call from HR on the way home from the interview congratulating me on how much they liked me and wanted to formally offer me the position.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you faced a difficult decision and how did you handle it?
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sears (Hoffman Estates, IL) in Oct 2011
Interview
I was interviewed on campus after signing up through my schools career website. The interview was very casual and easy. Then I got invited for a second look interview in Hoffman Estates for a week and half later. The interview process took an entire day and involved 2 1:1 interviews and a group activity. There was also a tour of the facility. The atmosphere is very casual and there are a lot of amenities that demonstrate how the company is committed to work life balance.
