I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sears
Interview
Interview was easy, the first interview I had the manager asked the questions on the actual paper, then I was suppose to be interviewed by the store manager but he was busy so i was only interviewed by the one manager, and got the job on the spot, I went in for the orentation about two weeks later and started training two days later.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sears in Oct 2016
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter online, saying that they are building a new team with machine learning guys, and they offer great salary and sign on bonus, and the position is 100% remote.
After two weeks, they scheduled a phone interview. After passing this round, there was another phone interview in the following week which lasted only 10 minutes, and I got an offer.
This process is much different than other software position interviews, only two rounds, and no onsite. In fact, second interview didn't ask any technical related question, except what the difference in JavaScript between == and ===.
It was really wired that they gave me an offer even they didn't evaluate me carefully, and the offer is not competitive at all. I tried to negotiated with them and asked if I can remote work. Then a HR called me saying that I was required to relocate to Chicago and I said "yes, I can." Then she asked me if I have H1B, I said no, then she said they are not e-verify company, so they want to hold on my offer. I guess they just want to cancel my offer by making any reason. If they are not e-verify, then the HR don't need to ask me if I would like to relocate, just the first reason didn't work. I also checked online to see if they are e-verify, and they are!
I didn't waste much time with this company, but the experience was really bad, they canceled my offer without any reason. They are just lying. Don't waste any time with this company, and I will never purchase from Sears, just like what I used to do so far.
