Very unusual interview. Was first interviewed by an assistant who asked about my gap in employment, (gap was only a few months). Then interviewed by another person who asked the standard questions, ie, tell me about a time when.... Then was brought back to the office where who I assumed was the general manager sat me at the computer to fill out some information. I realized the questions were for someone who had been hired. I stopped and asked the gentleman if I was hired and he said yes. No one had said that I was hired. I wasn't given any information about salary, I had to ask him what the salary was.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sam's Club
Interview
I met the recruiters at my college's career fair and had a face-to-face interview the next day. That interview was exciting and made me want to work for Sam's Club. Other Sam's Club employees followed up with a phone interview a few weeks later. They asked the same exact questions. It was very impersonal and I didn't want to work for them after that. They called a week later and asked to schedule another phone interview. The third interview was not strictly behavioral questions. I wasn't interested anymore, but I figured it was good phone interviewing practice. The hiring manager was delightful and always very nice.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when you did not have a defined leadership role, and you had to lead. Before the four behavioral questions, they said "Tell me what you know about Sam's Club." In my 3rd interview they asked, "What changes would you like to see in your local Sam's Club?"
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sam's Club (Bloomington, IN) in Jun 2010
Interview
There were two interviews, one was with a mid-management employee, in which I was asked questions like "have you dealt with a stressful situation?" "Are you comfortable talking to people" and so on. The second was with the person who would be my boss, who basically asked the same type of questions. It was a very smooth process and I felt very comfortable with both interviewers.
