I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Sam's Club
Interview
Applied in July, got called for interview in September. Was told to come back the next day because the Supervisor didn't remember telling me to go in that day. Went back the next day & was given interview - only because I was told to come back otherwise I'd have to have came back the next day AGAIN, because they weren't prepared that day either, but I was taking the bus. Anyway, had the interview then was told to return that Friday 2 days later for the drug test. I returned, met the district manager & was given the drug test form. I took the drug test right away, but wasn't called until the end of October for orientation. Orientation consisted of signing documents & filling paperwork, watching movies, getting uniform (vest) and name tag, tour of the store, then was told to come back the next day to do CBLs computer training. (you are paid for) I didn't start officially working as a cashier until December. I did re-shop for a whole month & a half.

Question 1
Name a time in which you had to help a customer, but didn't know anything about what you were asked?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Sam's Club
Interview
The process was fairly quick for me. I met with a recruiter at a conference in Atlanta during undergrad. At all levels, it was behavioral/situational questions.First, I was screened (about 15-20 minutes) face-to-face by a recruiter. She then passed me on to the next recruiter, a regional level, and that interview lasted about 30-45 minutes. After that, I met with the next level recruiter and again, it lasted about 30-45 minutes. Lastly, the second recruiter called me and informed that I had an offer. I imagine that the process would take a couple of weeks-a month when outside of a conference setting due to scheduling, etc. The recruiters were really nice, and answered my questions before and after the process. I only wish that they had painted a more accurate picture of the training program and job position thereafter. Just remember, it's retail!

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had to handle a difficult customer.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sam's Club (San Marcos, TX) in Aug 2012
Interview
Just went in, filled out an application and asked if they were hiring for any positions. They said they were hiring for a cashier position and asked if I had any experience with cash registers. I said yes, and we scheduled an interview for that Friday. I came in dressed in business casual attire, and one of the check-out supervisors interviewed me first, asked pretty basic question like " How would you deal with an irate customer?" and other basic questions like that. She was fine with all of my answers and then sent me to an office to speak to a hiring manager. Had a short conversation with her and she offered me the job. Pretty simple.

Question 1
The hiring manager asked me to sell her something. Anything. I described an imaginary shirt in a detailed and overly complimentary way. Worked out fine.
