I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Patagonia (Denver, CO) in Sep 2016
Interview
I stopped by the store and talked to someone about openings. I was told that there would be some hiring soon and that I should stop by again to check in. I was also directed to an online application. I Stopped in the store again with a resume for good measure. I was then told that interviews and hiring would be coming at a later date then originally stated and that I should stop by again. I think I stop in and said "Hi" something like five times. I enjoyed getting to know some of the employees I met through the process.
I was contacted by email with dates for the interview. The email explained the interview was to be done in a group. I arrived a few minutes early and we started on time. Some warm up questions about ourselves and then some questions about how we saw ourselves in the job and then time to ask questions of the interviewers.
I was called five days later (after the other scheduled interviews and weekend) and told I was not going to get an offer. I called back and was able to ask a few questions for clarification.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Patagonia (Reno, NV) in Sep 2016
Interview
I applied online through their website. The application was pretty easy. I got an impersonal email 6 days later saying I have been signed up for a group interview. I prepared thoroughly, even reading the memoir "Let My People Go Surfing". I found out upon arrival that there were 3 employees, and 7 interviewees. I thought this was a horrible way for the managers to find out about about their applicants. What happened to the ol' phone interview to weed out the unqualified applicants? The group interview was just ridiculous.
Short interview in Managers office about my interests, activities and sales experience. Overall very easy and conversational, there was another person interviewing with me as well and she also got the job.
