Interview
I applied and 3 weeks later got a call for an interview. When I arrived, it became apparent that this was a group interview. 5 of us sat at a table with the interviewer and were asked the same questions (she started with a different person each time, but asked everyone the same question). It was nice to be able to size up the competition. I found it best to be friendly and encouraging to the others. I made sure to stand out, and not interrupt others.
They want open availability and someone not afraid to approach customers.
They said they usually do a 2nd interview after a group interview, but did not have time to do 2nd interviews. The interviewer seemed to have known who she was going to hire from our group.

Interview
There is a short phone interview, the hiring manager asked me why I wanted to work for old navy, I said because I love to shop at old navy, their products are great and everytime I visit a store the staff is always very helpful and accesible and I would love to be a part of that team. She then asked me if I could come in for the interview at 2:30 the next day, she warned me (numerous times) to not be late, so I arrived at 2:00. She didn't call me back to interview until 3:00 and I interviewed with one other person. Her and the manager in training asked questions of us like "tell us about a time when you experienced a conflict with a coworker and how did you handle it?" The questions are all basic questions any interviewer asks, "how would you greet a customer?", "how would you handle an irate customer?" etc. the interview lasted about 40 mins and she said she would call by 6 to let us know if we were hired. She stressed the importance of flexibility in scheduling and said that open to close availability was key. I put the hours I am definitely available during the day because I go to school and have a babysitting job...she didn't really like the fact that I couldn't work from 7am to 11pm and I think that cost me the job. But if you are available all day then you are a shoe in.

Interview
I applied on a Friday about two weeks ago. I didn't expect to hear anything because it was the weekend. I called Thursday and was told that the hiring manager had been out the whole week and today was her first day back so I should call tomorrow. I decided to wait until Monday to call. I had spoke with the hiring manager and she said she didn't seem my application but would call me back within a day. The next morning I received a call from someone else saying that she would like to set up an interview. I called her back and set up an interview for the next day. I wasn't told if it was going to be a 1 on 1 or if it was going to be a group interview. I walked into my Old Navy around 10 minutes early and told a sales associate who I was and that I was supposed to be interviewed. A few minutes later, the person who was interviewing me called me back and we discussed questions. She asked me about myself so I answered about extracurricular activities and clubs. She also asked if I was comfortable putting outfits together for customers and I said yes. She also asked where I got my style ideas and fashion from and I just said magazines. She was really sweet and super nice and wasn't at all intimidating. She then wanted to know how much I knew about Old Navy. She then discussed how they were currently looking for only seasonal but that they would also keep you after the season has passed too. I was then told how I would be called by the end of the week to be told if I had gotten the position and when the orientation would be.
