I applied in-person. I interviewed at Old Navy in Oct 2014
Interview
I applied for the position online September 25th. Now in the month of october on the 18th , i called Old Navy to check back up on the status of my application and the manager said the store is holding auditions (Which they call it a walk in interviews) which i had it on a saturday, so I came in and met with the hiring manager, she was such a sweet person. The manager took us to the back of the store and then told us about the stores history and what it's like working at old navy, which i already know about cause i have sales experience lol. it was a little group interview which wasn't bad. The manager asked us questions like "What Makes You Awesome, Why You Want To Work For Old Navy, What Was A Time You Were A Team Leader" and Other Very Easy Questions Like That. Then she asked me to go out and pick an outfit out like i was going to an music festival which was great cause i love music. It was a very EASY interview i can tell you that. The manager said she was going to give us a call on monday once they check out our application we filled out online. Remember, I was with a group interview. I had the interview Saturday and i got a call from Old Navy Monday just like they said they would call on that monday. I got offered the job. I accept.
I applied online and was called in over a month later. It was a group interview and very relaxed and actually fun! We were asked various questions like what made us awesome? We were then asked to give facts about ourselves and what we liked to do. We rolled a dice and each of us had to pick out an outfit. My number on the dice was blank so I got to make up an outfit and that was actually fun. I would recommend accessorizing and layering the clothes. Make sure you do some research about old navy's clothing and style.i had a second interview after the group and was asked some basic questions about availability and just activities that I was involved in.
I applied online. I interviewed at Old Navy (Huntington Beach, CA) in Oct 2014
Interview
I completed an Old Navy application (on-line) in September. I was called (finally) last week (week of October 13). I attended the Open Interview (e.g. Group Interview).
The training manager asked all candidates to walk around the store and select an outfit. After all candidates did so, we were directed to the breakroom. We introduced ourselves, then asked to explain why we chose the outfit. In addition, we were told to bring an item that is special to us and we were asked to "introduce" that item and tell why the item was special. This group interview was brief and included a Q & A period.
After putting away the outfits we selected, some candidates were dismissed and told "we'll call you on Monday". Those who weren't told this were asked to stay and we were ushered back to the breakroom.
The manager asked to speak to me first and wanted to talk with me about my position of interest, hours/availability, or any other questions that I had. The two positions I was interested in did not fit into my schedule so the only position available was sales. The manager told me that she'd call on Monday.
It's Tuesday and to date I haven't received a call or email from the manager.
I would NOT feel sad or disappointed if I weren't selected for the position (i.e. sales) because it wasn't my first choice.
More importantly, I put God first. If this job were meant for me, I woulda' been blessed with it.
However, I do not like the unprofessionalism of this manager or anyone who says, "I'm gonna' do this." It's one of my pet peeves--if one says he's gonna' do something--do it! In hindsight I am glad that things happened this way 'cause it's an indication of her management style.
I do not want to work for a manager who is unreliable and lacks follow through. This is a strong indicator of her being this way with scheduling, payroll, etc.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There wasn't a difficult or unexpected question in this interview as it was a group interview and the managers just wanted to "see" and "feel" if the candidate would be the right fit for the store. I am sure that looks/appearance, voice, and attire have a lot to do with deciding who will move on to the next step.
