I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Old Navy (Charlotte, NC) in Oct 2015
Interview
I applied online and they didn't call me until about 2 weeks later. They called and asked if I was still interested and I said yes. The manager said there was actually a "hiring fair" happening at their store the next day, so he asked me to come in for a group interview the next day at 10:30am. He was very nice on the phone and made me feel comfortable about the group interview. He said "don't worry, we won't ask you any crazy questions. Just come in dressed in whatever you would wear to work here" (I wore black pants with brown boots and a nice sweater).
I got there a couple minutes early and was told to roam around the store until they were ready.
They came and found the 3 of us that we're being interviewed. I was nervous because he interviewed us in the middle of the store with customers walking around and listening in, but it was so relaxed I didn't even mind it. The manager was extremely nice and made me feel so comfortable. He asked us about our availability and then asked us to go find an item in the store that "speaks to us". We then had to bring the item back and each had to explain why we liked it. It was more of a casual conversation. Then he told us to go take that item and make an entire outfit out of it. We all came back and had to show the outfit and explain who the customer wearing the outfit would be, wear they would be going, ect. He made us feel great about everything we picked and overall it was the best interview I've ever been to. After that he asked us if he had any questions and that was all. This interview took place on Thursday. He said we would get a call from him by Monday (when our background checks came back) letting us know if we were hired. I didn't hear back from him until that Wednesday but he apologized that it took so long for the background checks to come back and then offered me the job. I had to decline because I already accepted another job position elsewhere since Old Navy took longer than expected to get back to me. Overall it was the most comfortable and relaxed interview and all the staff made us feel really welcome.

Interview
(If you don't want to read the whooole story of how I got the job, scroll down to were it says interview)
I applied for the job a couple days after I turned 17.
I applied on Saturday, and got a call on Wednesday but I wasn't able to answer it since I was busy. I called back a couple hours later and the hiring manager tried to set an interview on Saturday which I could not make because of a prior commitment (which I thought would be bad & they would think I'm not committed to working) and she said to callback when I get back in town.
A day after I'm back in town, I call and tell her what happened when I last called and she sets up an interview that day!
I go in 10-15 minutes early and I said I'm here for an interview with .... and she talks to him and says he will come soon and you can sit while you wait.
So I'm sitting on the bench and I smile at customers who walk in, and eventually the man doing the interviews comes up and introduces himself and asks if I could be wait a little while longer and I said of course. Eventually, he comes and says his manager is off her break now and we can get started with the interview, as were walking towards the back we pass by the manager and I introduce myself and we keep walking and a lady is looking at a shirt and the man asks if she needs help and she didn't hear so I repeated what he said and she said no, thank you! and so we continue to the back and begin the interview.
INTERVIEW:
He asked why do you want to work at old navy, about my availability....
Also, realized that I'm in high school and asked if I was a minor and I said yes, I have a work permit at home and all you have to do is fill it out the rest and sign it and he stated that he liked how I was thinking ahead.
I asked him if he had any hesitations about my qualifications and he said no, I answered all his questions (and some he didn't have to ask he said). He says that when he is hiring he looks for someone who is friendly, and he liked how I showed commitment when I said I couldn't make it to a suggested interview and when I was willing to wait. He even said, "Do you want me to ask you more questions cause you are doing great so far!" and of course I said if you would like to I will answer them. Then he asked why should I hire you over everyone else I'm interviewing and I stated why and pointed out my flaws but also stated whats good about it and how I want to improve on it. At the end of the interview he basically said that I passed my interview, and they just have to do the background check.
The interview was quick and was made for 4:30 and I was out by 4:46.
CALL BACK:
It took 2 days and each day I was wondering if I should call. But later on the second day I got a call in the afternoon and the hiring manager said that I passed my background check and would like to offer me a job and I was so excited I didn't know what to say so I said "Yay!" lol, and we set up an interview and told me what I needed to bring. :)

Group interview, was asked to make an outfit. Fun, organized and short process. Got called within the next week and received an offer. They accommodated for my vacation I was on. Let me skip first session for training. Great help.
