I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at New York Life (Wilmington, DE) in Nov 2023
Interview
During my interview with New York Life, there seemed to be a disconnect the whole time. It did not feel like the interviewer was conducting an actual employment interview. He threw me through several loops, asking me personal questions like "How long have you been in the area" and "What do you do in your spare time"; instead of asking me about my professional background and qualifications... He went off on a tangent about the billions of dollars that the company makes and the number of Financial Advisors that are working for him. When he eventually gave me details about the position, he stated that I would be working for a commission as an entrepreneur. Correct me if I'm wrong but a self-employed individual does not work for a specific employer or receive a salary/wage. Furthermore, if I were self-employed then I wouldn't be seeking an incentive-based job with New York Life or any other company for that matter. The entire "interview" threw me completely off and wasted my time.
It was a 1 interview process with the team lead. Extremely professional and and was a very casual conversation style. A great combination of technical questions layered into personality traits.

Question 1
What financial planning resource do you use to stay up to date on the topic?
Recruiter did not show up to the interview and did not provide a reason for not showing up. The interview was scheduled for a certain date and time and was rescheduled after he did not show up for the first time. However, he also did not show up for the rescheduled meeting and never gave me a reason why.
