Interview
It was semi formal, definitely dress nice for it. They took me in a back room and she pretty much read my application and just asked me questions about some of the things I wrote down. I came off as nice and personable. I smiled a lot too.

Applied through Snagajob and got a call the following week. The waiting time took almost two hours and the interview process took an hour since you had to talk to the store supervisor then the store manager.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Marshalls (Pomona, CA) in Sep 2011
Interview
Pretty easy as long as you're truthful. I knew one of the new managers so I was comfortable with her in the room. Since I have never had a job I referenced activities and events I participated in during high school to show I did have some experience with customer service. When asked what fruit would I be and why (asked a large group of us toward the end) people were saying these exotic fruits because they are exotic or hard to find. So to be different I said a chocolate filled apple because although I can be sweet and sour on the outside I am very sweet deep down.
When working retail, you have to make yourself stand out so the best thing is to embrace your inner "weirdness" (to a certain extent) and make your job a fun environment. I have been at the same store for 3 years mainly because of the people I am blessed to work with.
