For postdoc you apply to a lab you interested in with some proposed research plan.
If the PI like the idea and interested you will go to present your previous work and visit the lab.
if everything goes well you may get an offer.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MIT (Cambridge, MA) in Jan 2015
Interview
I applied online and then waited 4-6 weeks. My manager emailed me to set up a phone interview for the next week. The phone interview was about 20 minutes and went well. She invited me in for an in-person interview by email the next day. The in person interview was with three people. I was asked to give a 10 minute presentation and then we had an interview portion where I was asked questions and was given time to ask questions in return. I was offered the job about a week later and salary negotiation lasted about a week after that. We set a start date of one month after the offer was given. All told the process was maybe 3 months long.

Question 1
They asked about working on a team. Collaboration is big here.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at MIT (Cambridge, MA) in May 2013
Interview
Single, very brief interview. The position was for basic data collection, so they were looking for basic competency. I interviewed a week after graduating college and was eager to accept an offer as soon as possible. My employer understood that I was overqualified for the position, and made it clear that this position would be a good stepping stone while I work to start my career.
