I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lush (Exeter, Inglaterra) in Feb 2018
Interview
I worked at Lush for 2 and a half years.
There was a hiring evening in which anyone who had the availability they were looking for was allowed to turn up. The evening consisted of pairing up with another person and walking around the store in larger groups learning about the different areas in the store and the different products were and how to use them. For the last bit of the evening we were asked to pick a product that would be good for our partner, like we would for a customer. They looked at my cv a bit but weren't really concerned with experience they were more interested in seeing how we interacted with others in the evening and the reasoning behind the product that we chose.
If you are successful they will offer you to come in for a trial shift. The trial shift they will explain how the shop runs, like the sinks and how you are allowed to demonstrate products to people. They will let you out on the shop floor to see how you interact with customers and how much you show them products. At some point they might give you some feedback in private to encourage you and then at the end of the trial they might let you know if you have the job or not or they might get in contact with you at a later date.
Just be yourself and seem personable and willing to chat to people.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lush (Londres, Inglaterra) in Oct 2019
Interview
Submitted CV online then invited for group interview in the shop. Were asked to present someone we paired with, then work in groups to create a selection of gifts within a certain budget. We were also asked to prepare a short presentation on our favourite Lush product and then present it to a small group and a supervisor. It seemed quite intimidating at the beginning, but everyone bonds over that initial fear, and the staff didn't want us to feel nervous.
Offered a trial shift a few days after the group interview, then on the trial shift offered the job.
They specified in the email they wanted us to demonstrate our personalities, and since working there I have realised there is no 'one' person, despite how the staff present themselves with customers. It is actually a really diverse team in terms of personality, and they are looking to fill in the gaps in their team. So, if you don't get it it might not be because of your capabilities, but because they just genuinely want a different dynamic.
I would also say don't try to be what you think Lush expect, just be as authentically yourself as possible. The staff are really perceptive and can tell if someone isn't being genuine, but presenting what they think Lush want. That facade is difficult to maintain, and you probably won't get the job that way.
Group interview where we had to discuss our favourite product then conduct a charity pot planing session. This was to tear our personality as they can teach you everything else but they can’t make you a great communicator you either have that or you don’t
