I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín) in Apr 2020
Interview
It was very pleasant in general and not too time consuming.
I was able to complete all the interview phases within 10 days or so. The process includes initial screening, tech interview with the engineering team, final interview with the leaders.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Technical interview was focused on monitoring techniques, metrics, traces, SLI/SLOs. Also some classic Linux and DevOps related questions. Final interview was focused on relations in a team and my career plans.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín) in Apr 2020
Interview
The interview process consisted of 5 rounds, all of which were remote for me as this occurred during the peak of COVID-19.
The stages:
1. An initial phone screening with HR
2. A take-home React based coding challenge
3. A technical call with a Senior Frontend and an Engineering Manager
4. A call with the Chief of Staff, concerning contextual based questions - basically seeing if I thought like a Senior Engineer would in certain circumstances.
5. A call with the lead of the team I would be joining
Feedback and transparency between rounds was very quick, outpacing many other interviews I was taking part in so this was really good, even though it was 5 rounds long.
5 rounds is an extensive process but it also gave me a good idea of the team and organisation I would be joining, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions with many different team members who have different roles.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
In round 3 many questions were about my coding challenge submission, which promoted a good dialogue. These included questions about testing, why I did certain features in a specific way, how I would have done it differently if I were to do it again and what was challenging.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh (Berlín) in Apr 2020
Interview
I appreciated that the entire process was fast and well-structured - it took only two weeks from the first interview to receiving the offer. The process consisted of 3 interviews, a take-home task, and "meet and greet" with the team. During these steps, all of the interviewers were approachable, friendly, transparent, and I was kept in the loop of what to expect next.
I consider that the take-home task and the interview questions in each step were very relevant and a good insight into what the scope of the role entails.
