I applied online. I interviewed at HelloFresh (New York, NY) in Jan 2021
Interview
During my initial phone screening, the recruiter I was working with said: “If anyone is mean to you during the interview process let me know”. At first I found this weird, it wasn’t until
I spoke with the hiring manager that I understood why she said this. He was mean, really aggressive, and unprofessional. The interview questions weren’t hard, the hard part was speaking with someone as rude as he was. After that, I decided to discontinue the interview process. This was the only time I’ve ever done that.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HelloFresh in Jan 2021
Interview
Initial call with HR followed by a technical challenge. The goal was to compare the performance of different approaches for binary classification task, you were provided with a dataset that had to do some exploration and feature extraction and answer some questions about . The problem is that you only had 4 hours to complete the task, which is very little if you are trying to do anything more than training a baseline model and do some quick feature engineering. After submitting the assignment, the recruited contacted me a few days later saying that there were not going to move forward because they would have liked to see more from my submission. I think their expectations for how much one can get done in 4 hours is way off, especially when working with unfamiliar datasets.
