I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Hays
Interview
The first open day is pretty standard fare, you come in, hear the sales pitch and take part in a few group activities. The second stage is where matriculation really begins, you sit around a table with 11 other candidates and take part in group activities all of which involve you being able to talk and present yourself so make sure you are good at that. The most entertaining (and hardest) test of the day is siting back to back with the leading interviewer and simulating a call to a client, you will have no idea what to do going in, but you don't have to, listen on the day to what you are told and just do your best. Finally if you get through this you will be invited back for an interview with the directors who you will be working for, at this point the process is yours to mess up, do the relevant research on the people you are meeting and you'll do great
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hays (Londres, Inglaterra) in May 2016
Interview
- Telephone interview
Standard.
- Face-to-face interview
Describe your motivations and yourself, had to do a role-play of calling a client trying to sell a candidate. Key is to listen and bounce of what your interviewer is saying (i.e.. "I don't really have the time to speak with you, our computers are just being set up and everything is a mess" to which you respond "Oh, well did you know Hays has an IT department that could help out, why don't we talk about sending someone over to help on a short term contractual basis?") Boom. the job is yours.
Also, make sure you know the Hays Brand values (expert, inquisitive, ambitious & passionate about people)
- Assessment Centre
4 exercises, all of them require to think on your feet and once again.. listen and bounce off of what they say during the role plays. No group exercises, they judge you on individual based tasks. Just be calm, it's not that hard.
- Final Interview
You've more or less got the job. You get questioned by some senior people. Make sure you can describe your motivations for wanting the job, and why you'll be good at it.

Question 1
What qualities do you think would make a good recruitment consultant?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hays (Southampton, Inglaterra) in Jul 2016
Interview
This was a three stage interview process. An initial interview with the Senior Internal Recruiter for the region, followed by a Sales Assessment Interview which was conducted as part of a group and then finally, if successful, a one-on-one interview with a Director to ascertain whether your personality and goals match the company's.
The Senior Internal Recruiter for my region was Paul Marsden and I want to mention him in particular as he was fantastic during the whole process- constantly keeping me informed and providing me with feedback to ensure I had the best chance of getting the job, and to be sure the job was right for me. Thanks Paul.

Question 1
A question/scenario that cropped up in stages one and two was the idea of a Sales Development Call. Where you as a Recruiter have been given a hot lead on a company that is looking for a candidate exactly like one you have on your books. You don't have any previous relationship with this company so essentially it's a cold call. Your interviewer will take the role of the company looking for a candidate and you'll carry out a role-play phone call.
