I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Crossover for Work (New York, NY)
Interview
The interview process was primarily a very time consuming online hiring tournament that took place on a Saturday. Their "talent advocate" gave me the impression that candidates could be hired within days. During a call, one of their recruiters told me that they were going to "fast-track" my application. I suspect that was a lie and that the talent advocated need to get a certain number of people to attend these hiring tournaments -- dangling fake carrots seems to be the strategy. After taking online tests, I was accepted into their talent marketplace -- apparently only a few make it to this stage. Weeks have gone by and I haven't heard from any of their recruiters. Nadda.
In sum, Crossover is a colossal waste of time. If you get the job (as a contractor--no benefits), you need to agree to be monitored on your computer. Seriously, they require that you install monitoring software to help you better optimize your day. If you disappear for more than 10 minutes (they use facial recognition), they will not count that time. Company founder has
an interesting professional history but everything else is very wacky/unorthodox.
