I applied through other source. I interviewed at City Year
Interview
It actually was very long and a little overwhelming. You meet with many members of your future team, and your boss and the Executive Director of the organization, and if it is for a senior leadership position, the other members of the senior leadership staff as well. But they are not hard to speak with, you feel very welcomed by the staff.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at City Year (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2011
Interview
There was first an application that I submitted online that had a couple of essay questions. Then there was a phone interview and after that an in-person interview. During the in-person interview, they asked a lot of questions about working with students and programming. They asked about specific situations on how to deal with difficult students and also more programmatic questions about running programs with a lot of kids. They also asked about the community service experience I had and how that has influenced me

Two phone interviews were conducted over the course of a few weeks. One was with the general recruitment coordinator and then a final interview was with just a general staff member (everyone on staff helps with the recruiting process). They were quite similar interviews.
