I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CarMax (Costa Mesa, CA) in Nov 2010
Interview
Applied online. I have 10 years of customer service experience. I asked if they needed sales experience and they said "no". I drove 45 minutes each way, interviewed 3 different times, had solid interviews, filled out their background check stuff. Then I get a "dear John" letter that's postmarked less than 12 hours after the day of the interviews, which took 3 hours. If they don't want someone, then don't make them spend gas money and waste a day driving and interviewing when they could be doing something constructive.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Sanford, FL) in May 2010
Interview
Telephone interview was very quick and easy. Was told to pick out a car that I liked from the car lot. Personal interview was conducted with several sales mangers and the General manager. Typical questions were asked. Part of the interview process was to "sell" the car that I picked out.
TIP: They are looking for you to ask them to take a test drive. When you do this the sales role play session is completed.
