Phone call with a recruiter then you take a personality survey. A week later I interviewed with a purchasing manager and a senior buyer. Overall it was a good experience.

Question 1
Describe an experience where you had to use data to solve problems.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Nov 2021
Interview
I'm surprised to see how many of these reviews are reporting negative experiences. Every single person I talked to during the interview process was kind, helpful, and genuinely interested in what I had to say.
The first step of the process was a quick 20 or 30 minute online math assessment. The one complaint there is that some of the charts they gave were small/blurry and difficult to read.
After that, I got an email from them to schedule a phone interview. The interview was an hour long and started off with some behavioral questions and then we moved to a case style interview that took the majority of the time. My interviewer was super nice, and helped steer me in the right direction at one point when I was unsure how to proceed.
After the phone interview, I got a call from HR to schedule the "super day" interview. The "super day" consisted of 1 behavioral interview, 2 case interviews, 1 general interview with one of the managers, and a lunch session where they gave us the opportunity to speak with employees who were in the program. The whole thing lasted from 9 AM until around 2:30PM, so prepare for it to take the entire day. Again, my interviewers helped guide me through the cases and it felt more like they were teaching me rather than trying to assess my performance. The behavioral interview was also pretty straightforward, just make sure you know what the STAR method is and you'll be fine.
The best part of the interview process was that all of the interviewers were actual analysts at CarMax, not people from HR. I interviewed with another company that had a guy from HR call me and it was an absolutely awful experience compared to my CarMax experience.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Nov 2021
Interview
It starts with an hour case study testing statistics skills and problem solving skills. I was pushed through the initial interview step of a basic phone review due to being referred
