Pros

You are part of a global brand, people recognize and in most cases, appreciate. There are numerous talented people throughout the organization, most easy to relate to and to get along with.

Cons

Fosters a competitive culture, multiple teams working towards the same initiative and building similar products. Management seems unable to make the difficult decisions necessary to get product teams aligned on a corrective path. Management is unable to hold to a single track, make investments in a long term strategy that will allow us to outperform our competition and regain market share. Direction changes every 6 months, ideas are recycled ever three, and the majority of product managers and business leaders make decisions based on how they use the website or their gut rather than what our customers actually want.

Pros

Awesome coworkers, great work-to-life balance - depending on your job, eBay makes an extra effort to show employees they are valued, diverse workforce, people here are passionate about what they do and they really care about the product and how it impacts people's lives. Good bonus structure, management tries to keep employees abreast of how the company is doing on a regular basis. It's a great place to work if you are raising a family. They have mother rooms for breastfeeding moms and many managers support flexible hours and telecommuting.

Cons

Typical politics that are evident and ever present at any company you work for anywhere.

Pros

eBay is one of the oldest, biggest companies on the internet -- and so it's an honor to work for the company that has pioneered so much. The infrastructure is incredibly complex and the challenges are of a scale greater than most competitors can ever imagine. It's great to be a part of this organization and play in this type of arena. Also, there are tons of resources to help work on stuff.

Cons

It's surprisingly expensive (in terms of engineering days) to get anything built. Lots of process keeps eBay reliably online with lots of 9's but also helps to add a lot of friction towards building new things. Also, the bar to hire has been set far too low for some time.
