Pros

One of my favourite clothing stores to shop in, enjoyed helping giving customers styling advice in fitting rooms. Sometimes nice co-workers join the team, but not for long.

Cons

Hated having to wear the uniform, it is boring and drab, manager was cold, rude and condescending, clique-y environment, I felt the environment was very high-school and immature. There is a pretty high turn-over because people burn out - the work is incredibly monotonous, there is always SO MUCH cleaning up to do after customers... honestly, there was very little that was fun about this job to me. There's a lot of pressure to do everything perfectly and people gossip about each other. I guess the co-workers can make it or break such an environment and I didn't enjoy working with mine. The pay ($9/hr in 2009) plus the measly discount (15%, which is just tax) meant working very hard for very little.

Pros

Salary is good compared to other clothing stores. Gain a lot of knowledge of what is in trend. Many coworkers are young and fun to get along with. If you are in to retail, than this is the job for you. Every store is different. What might be good in one store may be bad in another. All depends how the work environment is and who you work with.

Cons

Long hours, but good breaks. Takes a while to get a raise. Some managers are just very bitchy and sassy, not because they want to be, that's just who they are, which isn't good. Scheduling is a problem that managers need to fix!
