Too much management, minimal leadership, look elsewhere!

Pros

Pay is good and so are benefits. Company will provide job training. Everyone in the company knows the good the bad and the ugly about management.

Cons

NO WORK LIFE BALANCE. This company is filled with managers who serve no actual purpose other than to collect a paycheck and treat employees like ants that they watch and burn with magnifying glasses. Management = HUBRIS From the middle managers there is no true care or concern for the customers or improving the company. From the upper management there is just a lot of arrogance, and finger pointing. Imagine a company filled with intelligence in control, truly exquisite leadership qualities in managers, wonderful communication throughout and from their head quarters, and then think that will never be the description of this chaotic and disorganized place. Overall a lot of bad employee morale, backstabbing, deceit, and no true care about customers from 90% of the management. As long as there is someone below them to keep blaming upper management will continue to be selfish with their motives. This is a German company and there is bad communication from Germany. Upper management is really clueless about how to treat employees on a personal level. Most managers seem to hate their jobs and it shows. If the management wanted to fix problems then they'd send out anonymous surveys but instead send out BS surveys with options that are not accurate. Majority of managers have no leadership potential. General consensus that majority of managers are not needed. Typical management positions here are not traditional roles or duties. Not a healthy environment especially if you're looking for a career at a company. Let's be honest there are many other places to work and have an enjoyable time with people that care for their customers and feel that they are doing something good for the world and their fellow man. THIS IS NOT THAT PLACE! I can only think of a few useful and genuine managers who know their role in the company and actually know how to serve the customer.

Pros

The benefit package is very good, decent medical, dental and great vision plan. Three weeks vacation to start. Office environement is updated and I do work with some great people. Strong brand, well recognized in the industry.

Cons

Much time is spent talking about and analyzing problems, talking about improving process, talking about cost savings.. yet the same problems continue and are not corrected. The management team is stale and needs to be restructered. Most upper level management have been in their roles for 20 + years. New ideas and a new management perspective are LONG overdue. There is a definite style of "do as I say, not as I do". They use the theme "Modern, Global, Dynamic" which is unfortunate because the current organization is not any of these things. Our products are state of the art and innovative, yet our internal technology is basically antiquated, employee orientation is lacking and unstructured. Unfortunatley, growth opportunity is limited and diversity is sorely lacking. There has been an increase in turnover in the sales and service organizations and not enough is done to retain quality employees.

Pros

Stable and established company, great benefits, awesome co-workers, and you get to travel which I actually like. They provide a company car to the FSE's as well. We also get employee discount on Zeiss products and their products are absolutely awesome.

Cons

Absolutely beyond HORRIBLE management, Work and Life balance really sucks. All management cares about is numbers, and they micromanage you to a point that you want to commit suicide. I spend (still do) my weekends doing paperwork because I am too busy during the week. They pay us less after 8 hours of work to travel home. Has to be somewhat illegal. We get paid overtime but I would rather spend time with my wife and kids after 8-10 hours of work. During COVID 19 they still make us work and they don't care about our well being. They are still pressuring us to get our numbers. They are currently threatening furlough or layoffs as well.
