Pros

Coworkers, 4 day work week, remote access, fast paced environment.

Cons

The founding CEO retired and the one in place now continues to support outdated business strategy's that have failed the company, the customers, the employees and their families. There is zero accountability at management level. They have no ability to observe where others have failed, they simply repeat the steps and wonder why it isn't working for them. The current CEO has even acknowledged that they can't react quickly enough to the market changes. Some high profile jobs have been PR disasters regarding lawsuits, and they think outsourcing will save the company even though that has already proven wrong. But, the senior management in Australia always knows better than everyone else. As long as their friends get the new jobs and they keep getting their bonuses, they are happy to keep preaching the company line that this is to be expected and everything will be OK. Too many long time employees have been let go only to be replaced by "outsourced personnel" that management hand picks. IT is a shining example of that along with accounting, payables and even a lot of HR. Disaster! The operations are run horribly, the environment is now work double hard for no recognition and no pay increase. Management wants you to sit back and watch company money be spent in a wasteful manner, while you never get a raise.

Pros

With its global footprint and large staff count – it is possible to have a relatively diverse career without leaving the company. Although not consistent, it is possible to achieve a good work life balance – but very dependent on your manager and role. Was a great company when it was smaller, but its growth far outpaced its corporate development. Is a relatively immature multinational despite its size and the 12 years since listing on ASX.

Cons

Loyalty, hard work, innovation and talent neither recognised nor rewarded. Non-existent human resource management, employees treated as project resources without any thought of long term career path, training or career development. Finance has too much influence over operations and revenue generating activities. As a consequence too much focus on costs rather than the value generated by individuals and business functions, especially those in overhead roles. In-sourcing, outsourcing and off-shoring done with a shotgun approach, and executed poorly. Beware taking any role that could be moved to a lower cost country. CEO selection process from 2008 to 2012 was a major distraction for senior management. Internal competition led to lack of cohesive, homogenous and meaningful leadership during this period. The resources boom with its easy profits obscured the lack of focus on improving operations and reducing cost, and lack of foresight on the need to develop competitive strategies. Now that the music has stopped WorleyParsons has had to cut costs drastically – and in the process has lost so many of its talented people. Precisely at a time when their knowledge and skills are needed to help the company achieve profit growth.

Pros

Global company 401k match Insurance option

Cons

Most engineering work is outsourced abroad which leaves US engineers in the role of supervising, reports, and meetings without the compensation for taking on these roles. Employees in the overseas locations don’t seem to be paid fairly because there is a lot of turn over once the employee gains a little experience. It is impossible to get work done if no one stays long enough to complete a project and you constantly have to retrain new people. We have not gotten US office led jobs in years which means very little work. This in turn has led to a culture of being employed “Full Time” but very regularly getting paid less than 10 hours a week because managers will not let you charge because there is no work. Most experienced engineers and designers gained through the Jacobs acquisition have left and they are still using this as a selling point to prospective clients. Unethical practices go ignored.
