Pros

A lot of intelligent and interesting people, mostly focused on doing innovative, cutting edge stuff in development. More market-oriented than other multi-lateral development organizations. Relatively good compensation, depending on your position.

Cons

Constant management and strategy change, beginning at the top in both the World Bank and IFC, and going all the way to the operational level. When the change finally reaches down to the operational level (usually unevenly), top management changes and/or new strategies are developed. Investment staff are treated well, advisory staff are mostly treated as second class citizens. Hiring discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, and nationality is practically institutionalized.
