Pros

You get to wake up every day knowing that you are working for an organization that is trying to make a positive difference in the lives of the world's most poor and vulnerable. Compensation and benefits are generous.

Cons

It's not always fun given the bureaucracy of a large multinational organization, but it is worth it given the mission.

Excellent colleagues, role of IFC in the world is in question

Pros

Global emerging markets experience, most broadly capable development finance institution, excellent & often brilliant colleagues, diverse workforce.

Cons

More than 5 years of constant reorganization and strategy shifts are exhausting. Fundamental role of IFC is in question, shorter list now of countries in which to operate, deals harder to source. Stifling bureaucracy for deal approval. Rhetoric for innovation not backed up by management support. Rapid reduction in senior staff and advisory function is unwise.
