Pros

TransferWise still holds true to many of it's start up roots, despite having grown as rapidly as it has in such a short period. The opportunity to do meaningful work is up for grab every individual. The company has a strong and clear vision/mission, what is truly excellent is that this vision is inherently good. It's amazing to feel like you are working for the good guys! If you have a great idea you can make it happen.

Cons

We are growing fast and that can mean some things have been overlooked. Our culture is great at heart and the values we hold are really inspiring, we can have some inconstancy that has appeared with our scale. I have full faith that these inconstancies will be ironed out. Work here can also be intense we say that we are a revolution, this is great to work towards, it's very easy to work too much.

Hard but good work

Pros

High level of freedom and the ability to define and deliver your own destiny. Great, smart people. Open and honest culture. The opportunity to work on problems which have never been solved before.

Cons

Autonomous teams can sometimes mean lack of direction or inefficient scenarios. Can be overwhelming at times in terms of pressure and working hours. Missing a lot of common/basic benefits like pensions, health/dental care, sick pay, gym membership, death in service etc. I'm young but these are important and as the company now employees 500+ people these should really be provided.

Pros

TW has an incredible office (very Google-like) with awesome colleagues. Many company events -- two large company outings per year. Plenty of room for growth and no boundaries with wanting to take initiative. Leadership is competent, understanding, and approachable. Free coffee. The work is varied and interesting with plenty of side-projects to take on. Happy and friendly customers. The product is honest so there's no trying to cheat customers -- it's work you can feel good about doing. Plenty of freedom and trust within the company; no one is every breathing over your shoulder. You're treated like a human being.

Cons

The work can get intense and burn-outs can come quick if you're not careful. Sometimes you get so into your work you need to be reminded to take a proper lunch break. Salaries are a bit too low and yearly raises are not guaranteed (I think a base for a yearly raise should be established). Not necessarily a con, rather a point of improvement, but cross-team communication can be revamped.
